Lazy, hazy, crazy days ...

That song keeps going through my head. Sing it with me : " Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer / Those days of soda and pretzels and beer / Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer / Dust off the sun and moon and sing a song of cheer ".

And that describes Grand Turk. Lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer ... every single day, 365 or so days. Actually, look at the statistics ... 350 days of sunshine per year. I can handle that. Especially hearing that my dad has been snowed in up at his hobby farmhouse ... without power ... and it's April. Mom is going to rescue him on Monday. I guess that's the proof of a good marriage ... 54 years in and she's still willing to drive 2 hours to get him!

The kids are Day 1 into a two week spring break. A perfect opportunity to take advantage of these days of summer. Go to the beach, pack a picnic lunch, maybe even take the bikes out and go exploring a little bit. That's the one thing about living in a tropical paradise ... you actually live there, you're not visiting. We don't do the tourist-y things. I don't have a terrific tan ... and I don't often get to the beaches, except to walk the dogs. But the thing is that, if I really want to, I can.

So Day 1 and Kira and her friends are at the beach below us. An hour in the water and no sign of coming back up. But soon they'll be hungry ... and I'll be waiting ... with soda and pretzels ... and maybe a sandwich or two!

Enjoy your weekend, wherever you happen to be!
